Cooking for Dummies: Adobong Manok or Chicken Adobo

First and foremost pardon me for I do not know the English translation of Adobo, so I just said Chicken Adobo though when I hear that it seems to be a different food.  Anyway. here we go again with our COOKING FOR DUMMIES and now I will share to you how to cook Chicken Adobo or "Adobong Manok."

  • 1 kg chicken chopped into preferred sizes
  • 1 bottle Soy Sauce
  • 1 bottle Vinegar
  • 4 pcs onions (I love onions!!!)
  • 1 pc garlic
  • 4 pcs potatoes or as desired
  • 1 Ginisa Flavor Mix
  • pepper
  • sugar

  1. Wash the chicken in water to remove any dirt and the usual odor.
  2. Put the chicken in a cooking bowl.
  3. Chopped onions and potatoes into desired sizes.
  4. Wash the potatoes.
  5. Crash the garlic.
  6. In the bowl with chicken add onions, pepper, Ginisa Flavor Mix, 6 tablespoons of vinegar, sugar, and soy sauce.
  7. Add some water.
  8. Mix the bowl using your hands to spread the mixture and even the taste.
  9. After mixing taste the mixture if it is according to your desired taste.
  10. Be sure that the chicken are submerged in water.
  11. Marinate the chicken for 15 minutes.
  12. After marinating cover the mixture and cook it.  
  13. Wait for it to boil.
  14. Mix it once in a while.  Do not mix heavily to avoid the chicken to tear apart.
  15. After 15 minutes, place frying pan in the stove and then add oil.
  16. Remove the chicken from the bowl and place it on the frying pan.
  17. Add garlic, ginisa flavor mix and potatoes and mix them.
  18. Cover the frying pan. 
  19. After the mix had been distributed evenly put them in the cooking bowl with the sauce.
  20. Boil the mixture until the potatoes are soft.
  21. Serve with hot rice :)

I do not know what to call the cooking thing which you have to cook the meat, thus I just call it the cooking bowl.  I am just a dummy.
