Facebook Ads can somehow motivate you to buy or even book a staycation, and this is the reason why my wife and I decided to book an overnight stay at PAPING'S STAYCATION located in Magallanes, Cavite. We are so excited to go there. We packed our bags and began our travel on a commute, and here is our review of our stay and sharing our experience and feedback.
Paping's Staycation Travel Time
We reside in Caloocan City and we have to ride a bus from Valenzuela Gateway Complex to Monumento and ride the EDSA Carousel bus from Monumento to PITX. It took us about 90 minutes to go to the destination.
From PITX we rode a bus going to Naic, Cavite for another 90 minutes, and then from Naic, Cavite we rode a jeep going to Magallanes, Cavite Public Market. The final ride is a tricycle service from the public market to Paping's Staycation worth Php150. It's a very short ride, about 15-20 minutes.
We left Caloocan at 10:00 AM and arrive at our destinations around 5:00 PM, a total of 7 hours of commute. Considering the fact that we have to eat lunch at PITX, I would say it would take 6 hours from Caloocan North.
If you do have a car, I believe the travel can be shortened but I would not believe it would take you less than 2 hours, unless you take the expressway, and is near SLEX or Cavite area.
What Do I Think About Paping's Stacation at Magallanes, Cavite?
As soon as we arrive at the venue, it was an immediate reality check for us. Paping's Staycation and campsite is as it is a campsite and a place to stay. There might be some additional activities but perhaps because it was raining at that time we fail to see them and appreciate them.
What's Good?
- The jacuzzi was really good. It was very relaxing.
- The camper van that we stayed in was really spacious and very relaxing.
- Breakfast was simple but delicious.
- It provides an experience with nature.
What's Needs Improvement?
- The kitchen was a bit chaotic. A group used all the utensils and even the rice cooker so we really have to wait, and we almost were not able to cook. I suppose there were lots of rice cookers but when a group uses it to cook complicated dishes then everyone is affected.
- It took time for our jacuzzi to be prepared and if not for our direct message to the owner on Facebook we will wait in vain. Our jacuzzi was without a roof so it has to be cleaned and the rain-affected it.
- There were also limited activities in the place except when you paid for them like board games, etc.
Some suggestions:
- Staff should be proactive and should keep the area clean. There was a tent where dogs would sleep and I feel bad if someone checks in at that area. It's not very hygienic, is it?
- Let some activities be experienced for free like board games, badminton, etc.
- It would be good to limit the use of utensils and other cooking equipment in the kitchen. Remind the guest to only have easy-to-cook food and avoid cooking complicated dishes which requires elaborate processes and kitchen tools.
- It would be best to have at least 1 gas tank in stock in case the current one runs out like what happened during our stay.
- The biggest risk in this area is security. I might have failed to see it but based on my observation anyone can enter the place without any check, and there seems to be no security camera at all. Yes, it might be a pre-internet experience but security should be a top priority.
I posted a video on Tiktok regarding our Paping's Staycation as well.

Paping's Staycation Conclusion
I am giving our staycation a rating of 6/10. There is nothing unique about this place, and I would say the staycation is overpriced at Php2,000 per day. The Facebook ads that are being promoted is overly hyped and not at par when you actually experience it.
Would I recommend the place? Yes, I definitely would, let us support local enterprises and those that offer something that connects with nature. I am sure that things will improve and it will be better the next time, hopefully.
