How to effectively get Vitamin D


When we were in elementary the teacher would tell us that the most effective way to get Vitamin D is through the sun.  That is why every morning we are encouraged to go outside and receive this benefit, however with the increased ultra violet and other harmful rays due to global warming is this still possible?  Is there a way to effectively get Vitamin D?


Why do we need Vitamin D?


For a single father like me serious protection for my kids is very essential.  In a world where almost everything is filled with chemicals it is hard to get very healthy food options.  According to experts Vitamin D deficiency might lead to chronic diseases like cancer, heath failure and diabetes.

Recent studies shows that 36 of our body organs and body tissues are regulated by Vitamin D.  These includes our heart, lungs, brain and bones among others.  Due to the radiation being caused by the sun, most if us are no longer getting sufficient Vitamin D requirements that we need.



Studies also shows that 7 out of 10 Filipinos are already Vitamin D deficient.  The findings is according to a study conducted with Hi-Precision Diagnostics which involces 8,200 Filipinos from key cities in the Philippines.

How do we get serious protection and Vitamin D?


There are tons of ways to get Vitamin D.  One wayis through Vitamin D rich food as follows:

  • Cod liver oil. 1 tsp: 440 IU (over 100% DV)
  • Sardines. 3 ounces: 164 IU (41% DV)
  • Salmon. 3 ounces: 400 IU (100% DV)
  • Mackerel. 3 ounces: 400 IU (100% DV)
  • Tuna. 3 ounces: 228 IU (57% DV)
  • Raw Milk. ...
  • Caviar.
The above list does not include canned foods and also imagine how expensive these foods are especially Caviar.  In order to get the Required Dietary Allowance (RDA) of Vitamin D you need to eat at least 40 ehhs or drink 8 glasses of milk, or consume 800g of salmon or 2 cans of tuna flakes EVERY DAY.  Impossible right?
