Pocari Sweat: More than just your ordinary beverage

Have you tried Pocari Sweat?  It is something that we usually don't consider buying because we might think that it is just for athletes or those who work out in a gym but think again, this drink is more than just your ordinary beverage.

During each activity that we do we spend water to fulfill that task.  Water is one of the most important part of our body and as the fact goes, we can last days without eating but we cannot survive even for just a day without any water.

I have tried drinking Pocari Sweat and the thing is that it makes you a bit more relaxed and replenished more than the usual drink of water.  I am not an avid fan of this drink in fact I don't like it at first but when I tried it time and time again it made me realized about its benefits.

What is Pocari Sweat?

This beverage is a mild tasting refreshing drink that contains minerals such as Protein, Sodium, Calcium, Potassium. and Magnesium among others.  Besides those, Pocari Sweat also contains electrolytes concentrations Na+, K+, Mg2+, Cl, Citrate3-, and Lactate+.

Electrolytes are lost by the body during perspiration and it is not enough to dink water alone because these electrolytes should be replenished to prevent spontaneous dehydration.  Although drinking water is good, it is not enough to replenish these lost electrolytes.

We thirst because a signal is given by the body to let us know that water content inside the body is lacking. If it becomes hot, we sweat a lot in order to stop the rise in body temperature. That is why we get thirsty.  The amount of sweat that we perspire is greater than we imagine

Take for example these three tasks below and the amount of water we lost:
  • Sleep 350 ml
  • Hot Bath 500 ml
  • Basketball 1500 ml
So why Pocari Sweat?

Pocari Sweat is said to contain the right amount of electrolyte minerals to replace what we lose when we sweat during sports activities, exercise, work or even while sleeping.  Also, Pocari Sweat contains the right amount and combination of minerals which is a critical factor in the timely absorption to the body to prevent spontaneous dehydration.

Here are some recommended times on when to re-hydrate and preferably with Pocari Sweat: 
  1. Working out - best before, during, and after working out in the gym.
  2. Hot weather - refresh while replenishing lost fluids during a hot sunny day.
  3. Waking up - even while we sleep, we lose body fluids. Pocari Sweat works best upon waking up after a long rest.
  4. Hot showers - drink Pocari Sweat after losing fluids due to sweating during a long hot shower.
  5. Fever - our body cools down by releasing sweat when our temperature rises during a bout of fever. Recharge with Pocari Sweat.
  6. Diarrhea - dehydration takes place after a lot of fluids are lost as a result of diarrhea. Replace lost fluids and re-energize by drinking Pocari Sweat.
  7. Hangover - lessen the effect of hangover and stay hydrated by Pocari Sweat.
  8. Long travels - helps in relieving cramps as a result of muscle inactivity due to long travels. Pocari Sweat improves blood circulation by providing the right hydration in our blood vessels.

Based on the activities above, it can be said that drinking Pocari Sweat is not only for working out and heavy physical activities but also for the usual things we do.  You will of course say, well that is an additional expense for us and we do not have the money to buy Pocari Sweat always.

Well, the thing is, drinking Pocari Sweat is advisable in replenishing lost body electrolytes but it does not mean that it needs to be done always.  What we need to do is try to include Pocari Sweat as a means to properly hydrate our body.
