Manila Food Review: Cable Car Tomas Morato

We were invited for the launching of the new cocktails of Cable Car Tomas Morato. Since I personally love them since I love to drink, I am very excited. Added to my excitement was the connotation of the name and I am thinking that this will be a restaurant with some sort of "cable car" motif. Going there is quite easy, either you can drop off at GMA Kamuning Station and ride a pedicab or at Mother Ignacia and ride a tricycle.  So what happened when I finally got there?  Here it is...

Cable Car Tomas Morato Ambiance

I was eager to see some sense of "cable car" at least in this place but unfortunately any semblance nor any photo or any related theme is not present.  This one keeps me wondering why put the name when there is no connection to such, well that is my thought at least.  Does it matter though?  Well, it might affect your first impression but it should not be the main determinant for going here.

Cable Car Tomas Morato offers a venue for your friends, family, officemates and acquaintances to eat and drink.  The venue is not that big specially since it gets really full in the evening but if you are comfortable to bump with a lot of people then this is good for you.

There are also beer pong tables which you can play with your friends.  I was not able to try it because of lack of time and well I am a bit tipsy already when we have the chance.  Reminder though, have patience and tell them early because lots of patrons want to try it out.

Cable Car Tomas Morato Food

The Sisig Rice was the best of the best.  It was not oily and you can feel the crunchiness of the sisig in it.  It was the first ever sisig rice that I really enjoyed.  One order of this can feed up to 5-6 people already.  You can also make it as your pulutan and dinner, all-in. It comes in 3 sized by the wal solo (Php120), medium (Php230) and large (Php360).

Crispy Pata (Php399) was also one of the must orders.  It is so crunchy and chewy that even if time passes by you can still enjoy it.  It was one of the best and comparable to my top Crispy Pata choice in Choobi-Choobi.

Heart Breaker Pizza (Php495 medium and Php680 large). Damn if being heartbroken is as good as this I would chose to be heart broken every single day.  The taste is perfect, the crispiness is awesome and the flavor was really good.

Their Pica Pica Platter is also one of the orders that I advice you to have if you will be drinking.  It comes with a mix of various dishes which you would really love together with your beer, wine or cocktails.

Cable Car Tomas Morato Liquor

Now on to the cocktails.  There is one cocktail that I would recommend for the hardcore drinker - Furolocco (Php250).  It is the ultimate liquor mix which comes with seven liquor including Bacardi, Tanduay Rhum, Gilbey's Gin, Vodka and Tequila.  The method of drinking it is also ala Blow Job, well if you know the drink.

Spicy Mojito (Php300) which can be tuned to your chiliness level.  You can make it super hot or just mild.  I did try it and well I did not feel any hotness in the alcohol that is why I asked them about it.  It's a mix of white rhum, lemon, mint leaves and chili.

Punyeta (Php99) which is an entry level cocktail that can be taken by everyone.  It's a sweet mix of dark rhum, iced tea and pineapple juice.

Whiskey get Gingered (Php100).  This is a cocktail that you will both enjoy as a drink and as a healthy thing.  Imagine getting drunk and having the sooth of ginger.  It's a mix of Johnny Walker Black, Ginger ale, muddled with Ginger.

Midori Smush (Php300).  Try this classic Midori Sour which is a Japanese Sensation.  It comes with Japanese Melon Liqueur with Calamansi and Cucumber.

Gin Cucumber (Php300). Talk about healthy cocktails with an option of putting the cucumber in your eyes.  Well, joking aside this is a simple and refreshing mix of gin, lime and cucumber.

I really love their new cocktails plus I had been so tipsy as well after drinking 4 bottles of my favorite Smirnoff Mule.

Cable Car Tomas Morato Rating and Details

I have searched for Cable Car Tomas Morato at Zomato and seeing the overall rating of 3.0 over 5.0 is a misrepresentation of the place.  I know it gets really crowdy but come on do you really see a bar that is not too crowdy?

Now for our Cable Car Tomas Morato rating we are giving it 4.0/5.0 rating.  It's not perfect but it is a good place to drink, eat and play.
