Food Review: Okonomiyaki and Japanese Cuisine at Dohtonbori SM North EDSA

I am not really a fan of Okonomiyaki since whenever I heard about Japanese food I only knew about sushi and maki but this time I was invited to experience one of the tastiest Japanese food ever.  DOHTONBORI at SM City North EDSA is probably one of the most authentic Japanese restaurant in the whole Metro Manila.  Why?  Better read this...

It was an exciting experience since this is the first time that I would really come to a restaurant like this.  We want to experience their "Tatami" area since this will give you a sense that you are in Japan, at least.

As expected there was already a long que of people since it is already evening.  Expect longer lines during Saturdays and Sundays as well.  The receptionist ask our names and then we waited for our name to be called.  Once called she asks our order and we told her that we ant to be seated in the Tatami area.  Be sure to mention that upon ordering.

It was hard to choose which Okonomiyaki to eat.  My first choice as their Hiroshima Okonomiyaki but since cooking it is different from ordinary Okomomiyaki, I settled for the Machi Okonomiyaki while my girlfriend ordered the Butatama Okonomiyaki,

The staff was very accommodating since she guided us all the way.  She even taught us ho to cook the Okonomiyaki and told us to flip each side every five minutes.

Ho do you make an Okonomiyaki?  Check out this short video from our friend Ranneveryday.

I also tried their Hot Sake and Cold Sake.  It is the first time I tried Hot Sake and I would say that it is a must try as for the Cold Sake I tried the stronger one and yes it is indeed strong.  We were not able to consume all of it because we were tipsy already.  Sake is only at Php130 which is very reasonable.

Plentiful and flavorful Shoyou Ramen
This one is a really strong cold Sake
Enjoying Hot Sake
Dohtonbori is indeed a place that you must visit specially if you want to enjoy authentic Japanese food and ambiance.  They are not only true to Japanese food but also to Japanese culture - the scenery, the language and more.

I give Dohtonbori 5/5 rating.
