FoodPanda, a food delivery service that needs improvement

Foodpanda was introduced to me during Blogapalooza 2014.  It was a food delivery service which according to the site is already present in many countries.  You can order within Metro Manila and the food will be delivered right at your door step as long as there is a restaurant near your area.  However, this food delivery service in the Philippines needs some very important improvement.


I first went to foodpanda.ph a day before my birthday and wanted to use the voucher which I won at the Chooks to Go booth during Blogapalooza 2014.  I ordered a day before my birthday and asked it to be delivered the next day.  The order was placed and I got P250 discount.  A staff called me afterwards and confirmed the delivery set for the nest day.  

It was a great first experience.  Suddenly I received a text message saying that the order will not be delivered within 55 minutes.  I dismissed the SMS message since the person which talked to me over the phone told me that it will be delivered the next day.  When I went home that day the food was already day.  It was not delivered on the time which I specified on the site.

The next day I complained about it and they apologize for the apparent system error.  They gave me a P100 voucher to compensate for the trouble.  I decided to order once again at around 7:40pm and used another P250 voucher.  Unfortunately the order was cancelled since Chooks-to-Go Monumento can no longer cater to the delivery. 

Early in the morning the following day I called them after finding out that my discount voucher was used despite order cancellation.  Initially the staff refused to give back the voucher since they told me that the system already received it, however, thanks to another staff, Henry which gave me a total of P300 off my next order.  Thus, that day I only have to pay P75 when I order a Supersize Chicken Chooks-to-Go and a Juicy Liempo.

Foodpanda is a very convenient way to order online, however the system seems to have a problem with the scheduling of delivery.  It should be checked and synchronized to detect cancelled orders and also reinstatement of the vouchers used for that order. Advance orders should also be look upon so that misdelivery will not happen.

I am thankful to Edith and Henry for assisting me on my problems while using Foodpanda.  I hope that this would not discourage you from using it.  Compared to other online ordering system, glitches like this only needs to be improved.
